Creativity Matrix: What if creativity is contagious?

This mixed media piece was inspired by my grandmother, Mommy Duff...the first artist I ever met.

What if creativity is contagious?  What if inviting you to be creative with me were to cause you to be creative all on your own?  Could I create a chain reaction?

These are some of the questions creeping through my head as I sit contemplating the connections in my life.  But a more important question floats up from the realm of my heart.  Do the creative ones in my life know the inspiration their self-expression brings to me?

Then, a flash of genius.  Why not dedicate one entry a month to the creative ones I come in contact with?  The world is filled with people making this thing or that, constructing life in meaningful ways, mustering the courage to look at something from a perspective no one else has dared, or simply falling into a place where the old no longer works and a new way is birthed.  This space will be for them.  And for me.  It will be a sort of matrix, using creativity to spawn more creativity.  Why? Because I believe the answer to the question is YES.  Creativity is contagious.

How has someone else’s creativity inspired you to fire up your own?

One Response to Creativity Matrix: What if creativity is contagious?

  1. That is a good question. I think creative of others can be inspiring. When I see work I admire that is done with honesty and heart it makes me take notice of how I could do that , too. I really like looking/reading/smelling other peoples work and I love it when they are excited about sharing it.
