Wellness Art-ivity: Show and Tell Time Capsule

It’s our first Friday to share a Wellness Art-ivity. And to start things out, we are collecting items and idea from the present to bind together in a Time Capsule for the future.  What of your life now do you want to show to the you who finishes this wellness journey?

Click on this Mr. Linky to enter your art-ivity or to look at what others have offered. Don’t forget to leave a comment on this page and spread the love by supporting those with added links.  Growing and healing is tough work sometimes. It helps to know you are not alone.

My Time Capsule

My time capsule is a heart-shaped wooden box that I have painted and embellished.  I have a number of items that have called to me over the last week, representing in one way or another some aspect of my relationship with wellness.  A few things found their way into the capsule. A part of a puzzle… for physical wellness… and my desire to figure out what else is needed to meet the needs of my body.  A few things from nature… a broken shell that has both the quality of air and water.  And a river rock… for balance and stability.  A marble that looks like the Earth… because I desire to get out doors more and to honor the cycles of the Seasons.  Worry dolls… to remind me to let stuff go…and because dolls are playful and I understand the value of play when it comes to wellness.

I chose three cards from a Caroline Myss‘s Sacred Contract Cards.  They are archetype cards which depict archetypes that want to join me on this journey of healing.  The first is the Artist.  This is a journey of Healing thru the Expressive Arts and it feels led by this part of myself.  Next is the Queen…she is that part of me that can get a bit hoity-toity but which wants to mature into a gracious leader.  And lastly, the Hedonist…the tendency to disregard the need for balance in the celebration of life’s fineries.

The most important aspect of my time capsule comes in part of the box’s embellishments.  It is a reminder that the most incredible treasure of my life today and in the future is something that doesn’t fit in the box.

It is my heart…growing in strength and authenticity every day.  It is what leads my journey…and it is beautiful to behold.

I wanted to close by saying thank you to those of you who are taking this journey with me. I know that there are many of you who read and never comment. Or those who want to create but don’t have the time or haven’t made space yet for it in your life.  Still, I feel your support and presence.  So, come along!  Silently…or with loud celebration. Let your Creative Spirit dream on these activities because even if you are not creating in the real world, just imagining your way thru these activities just might have an effect on your wellness.  And who knows, maybe you will grow brave enough to type out a few words some day to say….I want some of that too.

Hi Rae, I am so sorry I did not do this. I was lucky to complete my dream board.
But I will post asap when I can get more thought into this. My mind has been in morning for a bit. Big hug and lots of love to you.

    • Rae says:

E, you are sweet. Don’t sweat it. The art-ivities are there to inspire us…not stress us. And I am not keeping a tally of who plays and who doesn’t. Your support is appreciated! HUGS back!

I love your time capsule especially your smiling face within your heart. It so symbolic in so many ways. I will be following along each week.

    • Rae says:

Thanks Ginny. I was so pleased with the picture. I don’t think when I started the project that I thought it would turn out that way, but it expressed what my world is like quite nicely.

  8. Tracey says:

It looks great! I need to start thinking outside the box…lol

I really love your time capsule, it’s beautiful. And the photo of you in the mirror is such a great pic! It’s such a wonderful idea to use the mirror.

I used to mod at a mental health forum, and one of the most well recieved ideas they worked with was to fill a pretty box with things that made you smile and empower you- pictures, quotes, CD mixes of empowering songs, even nice things people say about you written on post it notes! We all keep so many negative memories and hurts boxed up inside ourselves that creating something so positive can bring light to even dark days.

Instead of a time capsule, which I think I’ll come back to at some point, I ended up doing a painting of where I felt I was at. You can find it here: http://cracksnphotographs.blogspot.com/2011/03/celebration-of-wellness-where-im-at.html

Phoenix, your time capsule rocks. I never saw you post a link for the Mood Map, but I was delighted to find yours when I visited your site. Welcome aboard!!!
