Last week we took a close look at some of the thoughts that scuttle around in our head. This week as we bring a close to our month in the mental wellness sector of our Wheel of Wellness, let’s specifically explore the thoughts we have about our thinking.
What human hasn’t had the experience of someone telling them they are lacking in the area of intellect. You know the names and descriptives that come along with that kind of judgement. Dummy, stupid, half-wit, naive…and those are some of the more straight forward ones. There are all kinds of blows to our sense of intelligence that sneak in under our radar. Well, she thinks like a woman! Or he’s not playing with a full deck of cards.
Being treated like you are intellectually inferior can be very scarring. Not only does it slow you down in the moment, but it can cause a person to alter their course in life so that they never let anyone discover that they are just getting by.
Wellness Art-ivity: SMARTy PANTs DOLL
This week I want to invite you to play a game with me. We are going to Act As If. This is a great tool for boosting your ability to do things. First, scout out a situation in which you are feeling the sting of old attacks to your intelligence holding you back, then make a decision to engage the game. Crank up your SMARTitude and see what happens. Then, create a SMARTy PANTs DOLL (either a virtual or actual doll…made out of any material) to lay claim to your mental and intellectual wellness. Those artists who are interested will be feature in an Art Doll Gallery on an upcoming new blogsite I am working on. When you post on the Show and Tell Friday, please make sure to include the actual link to the specific entry to help visitors find their way to you.
