I have just returned from an evening with a few of my friends. We were celebrating Summer Solstice. We began the circle by exploring what the solstice meant to each of us. Everyone had a different answer. For me, the seasons provide opportunities for self-reflection and give me a rhythm to mark my own life against. When I show up to a season with the intention of tuning into the world around me, I nearly always find a mirror for some aspect of the life that is going on INSIDE me. That give and take between outer and inner nearly always results in an exquisite realization or transformation and brings a richness to my life that can’t be measured.
That is one reason I was so excited to be invited to be one of nearly 40 featured artist in Renee Burke’s Summer of Me. What is Summer of Me? It is an invitation to dive into the loveliness of who you are, to invest in your radiance, and connect with your brilliant heart. It is as Renee says, “a calling forth of self-care and self-communication.”
To keep in touch with the Summer of Me experience, head over to Happily Ever After for her initial post and video about the event. There, you will find inspiration, guidance, and connection around a whole season dedicated to tuning in to the magnificence of YOU.
I will be following along with you and am looking forward to offering a bit of inspiration as one of the Summer of Me artists. So whether or not you are in the midst of Summer (I know we have a lot of Aussies and New Zealanders who are part of the Creativity Tribe), consider delving in and indulging yourself…..make this your Summer of Me!
Rae – I am breathless – you have captured the very essence of ‘sumMEr of ME’ ~ I am honored that you are coming along and can not wait to see what you have to share! xo
Thanks, Renee. Just following you as a fearless leader!
Sounds like a wonderful summer plan, I will go check it out… When I woke up at 1:30 this morning I wondered how You would be observing summer solstace and now I know.
Glad you will be checking it out. Will be fun to follow it together!
Hi Rachél,
I just love seeing the works of other creatives. I haven’t fully been able to explore your blog yet, but I will when I get a chance. May I ask where the photo above was taken? It’s absolutely gorgeous. Thank you in advance.

Kevin, thanks for the compliment on the photo. The picture was taken at Sunset Beach in Texas. Here’s are some more photos from that photo excursion. Welcome to the Creativity Tribe!

It’s wonderful to have a tribe in the summer when it’s too hot to go out (at least in Phoenix). Today, I’m pouring acrylics and writing in the wet paint.
Mmmmm sounds like a lovely way to come out of the heat. Glad to be spending the SumMEr with you!
I love Solstice (and Equinox) as a touchstone for my year. That thing that ties me back down to earth. Without it I always feel a bit lost in the sea of the every day. It sounds like a spectacular journey! (Oh, and I love the last picture on the post of the ivory colored goddess with the pattern and the spiral).
