Behind the Scenes

My dad sells fishing tackle, has since I was little.  And to peer inside my life, you might have no idea that stuff like lures and line, tackle boxes and hooks make me swoon a little.  You see, they remind me of afternoons on the road with my dad, of Christmas when he would wrap lure samples (without the hooks) for a special gift.  He knew I loved the colors, the designs, the aesthetic.  And maybe…well, most probably….he knew I loved them because of how much I loved him.

But look into my life, and you don’t see that stuff.  I don’t fish.  I don’t display outdoorsy art on my walls, and there is no rust on the bumper of my car from heading out to the beach.

Not everything can be taken at face value.

My blog has been feeling that way recently.  On the home front, all appears to be as it has over the past year.  I publish an occasional Wishcasting Wednesday, post dreamboards on Full Moons, fill you in on my thoughts about living creatively, all the while inviting you to join in on the conversation.

But over the last month, if you were to cut away the facade, you would see a steady stream of progress toward something new.

It all started when an advertisement…an invitation… came through from Kelly Rae Roberts to participate in an e-course about growing a creative business.  I had just hit a wall with my dreams….bam!  And the thought crossed my mind that I needed help.  Looked down, and there it was!

I didn’t contemplate it very long.  It was like a gift, and I sure wasn’t going to question it.  Well the fact is, it has been a gift.  Day one, Kelly Rae encouraged us to look at our fears, and I have to tell you, that was one of the biggest realizations I have made.  I could see where I was holding myself back.  I could feel myself quivering with doubt and disbelief.

That lasted about a week.  I just sat with it, occasionally feeling a dream push up through the hardened mud.  Then one day, the sun felt like it was out.  That night I couldn’t sleep.  I laid on my tummy in bed and wrote down my biggest dreams.  I felt alive!

This little bird sings out my dreams....and I am finding the courage to listen to its song.

In my journal, I made a timeline for the next six months.  The first couple of months is pretty specific; further out, less.  The whole time I was dreaming, I was thinking of YOU.

Yes, you.  You who drops by occasionally because something here feels good to you, or because something about this place affirms what you love and want to do.

I hope you won’t turn away when you hear the “B” word mentioned around here.  Having a creative business for me is not about pushing products or trying to hook someone in for money.  I want to be who I have always been with you.  Warm, inviting, and supportive.

I will still share my process and the essence of who I am.  But I hope also to share my art, for those who might like to collect it, and to create experiential opportunities for you to join in as you can.

I am filling you in on all this because I want you to have the first peeks behind the scenes.  Change is just around the corner.  Consider this a little lure (without hooks, of course) for you to hold in your hand and ooooo! and ahhhhh! over.  What is on the other end of the line you?….you may wonder.  Well, it won’t be long before we know.  And to be honest, some of the surprises in store for you are in store for me too!  They may be my dreams, but sometimes the Universe adds a special spin.  And if we are lucky, we will be awake enough to grab hold with both of our hands and follow that spinner bait to the catch of a lifetime…. our dreams come true!!!

Creatively Yours,

Rae
